Is It Wild or Farmed? Chilean Sea Bass is wild caught.
Where is it fished? Chilean Sea Bass is a migratory species that can be found throughout the Antartic.
Is it sustainable? Chilean Sea Bass levels are low and the population is currently experiencing overfishing. Chilean Sea Bass are naturally vulnerable to over fishing because they are slow growing and reproduce late in life. In addition, fishing techniques such as bottom trawling, and long lines can be potentially dangerous to marine habitats. Because Chilean Seabass is fished in remote Antarctic waters, proper management and enforcement practices are difficult to implement.
